Graduate Scientific Writing
본 과목은 이공계 대학원생을 위한 학술 영어 작문 능력 향상을 목적으로 한다.
문법 복습, 구조화된 쓰기 활동, 학술 텍스트 읽기, 동료 피드백을 통해 명확하고 간결한 영어 글쓰기 능력을 기른다.
학생들은 학기 동안 요약, 바꾸어 쓰기, 인용 및 인용문 사용 등 학술 논문 작성의 핵심 요소를 실습을 통해 익히게 된다.
과학기술 논문의 구성과 논리적 흐름에 대한 이해를 기반으로 일관성 있고 설득력 있는 글쓰기를 목표로 한다.
또한 동료의 글을 평가하고 피드백을 주고받는 과정을 통해 논문 심사 과정에 대한 이해도 심화된다.
학기 중간과 말에는 주요 작문 과제가 주어져 배운 내용을 실질적으로 적용할 수 있다.
This course is designed to enhance the academic writing skills of graduate students in science and engineering fields.
Through a blend of grammar review, structured writing tasks, reading scientific texts, and peer review activities, students will develop the ability to write with clarity, precision, and purpose in academic contexts.
Throughout the semester, students will explore key components of scientific writing, including summarization, paraphrasing, citing, and constructing original arguments.
Emphasis is placed on understanding the structure and logic of scientific papers as well as improving flow and coherence.
In addition to learning specific writing techniques, students will engage in peer feedback and editing, giving them insight into the review process.
A midterm and final writing task will be assigned to allow for substantial application of course skills.

Research Paper Presentation Skills
본 과목은 특히 학문적 및 연구 중심의 환경에서 효과적이고 흥미로운 영어 구두 발표를 수행하는 데 필요한 기술을 학생들이 갖출 수 있도록 설계되었다.
이 과정은 명확성, 조직력, 개인적 표현을 중점으로 하여 발음, 문법, 문장 구조, 전달력 등의 역량을 향상시키며, 미니 강의, 동료 피드백, 다양한 발표 과제 등 일련의 상호작용 활동을 통해 학습이 이루어진다.
학생들은 자신의 논문 또는 연구 프로젝트의 일부분을 5슬라이드 발표나 여러 차례의 12–15분짜리 구두 발표 형식으로 발표하게 되며, 일부 발표는 녹화되어 공유된다.
수업 참여는 핵심 요소로, 활발한 수업 토론, 동료 평가, 토론 리더로서의 역할 수행이 포함된다.
지속적인 수정과 건설적인 비평을 통해 학생들은 학술적 작업을 발표하고 평가하는 데 있어 자신감을 키워 나가게 된다.
The graduate-level credit course is designed to equip students with the skills necessary to deliver effective and engaging oral presentations in English, particularly within academic and research contexts.
Emphasizing clarity, organization, and personal style, the course develops students’ competencies in pronunciation, grammar, syntax, and delivery through a series of interactive activities, including mini-lectures, peer feedback, and multiple presentation assignments. Students present components of their thesis or research projects in various formats—such as a 5-slide and multiple 12–15-minute oral presentations, some of which are recorded are shared.
Participation is a key component, involving active engagement in class discussions, peer evaluations, and leadership roles as discussion facilitators.
Through continual revision and constructive critique, the course also fosters students’ confidence in both presenting and evaluating scholarly work.

Graduate Professional Communication
본 과목은 대학원생이 글로벌 시민이자 연구자로서 갖추어야 할 실용 영어 역량을 강화하는 데 목적을 둔다.
학생들은 실제 생활과 직무 환경에서 접하게 될 다양한 언어 상황을 기반으로 효과적인 의사소통 전략을 배우게 된다.
수업 주제는 일상 회화, 이메일 작성, 이력서 및 면접, 오프라인 및 온라인 회의, 문제 대응, 협상, 아이디어 발표 등 실제적인 의사소통 상황을 포함한다.
개별 및 조별 활동, 동료 평가, 토론 주도, 역할극, 개념 요약 등을 통해 학습자의 참여를 유도하고, 영어로 자연스럽고 효과적으로 소통할 수 있는 자신감과 능력을 길러준다.
This course is designed to meet the evolving English communication needs of graduate students in a globalized academic and professional environment.
Through realistic scenarios and context-based language use, students will build confidence and competence in spoken and written English for both everyday and formal situations.
Students will explore communication strategies used in labs, international workplaces, and academic settings.
Topics include daily conversation, email writing, resumes and job interviews, virtual and in-person meetings, negotiation, issue response, and idea presentation.
The course emphasizes student participation through peer review, discussion leadership, role plays, and summarization tasks.
