Foundations of Korean Language and Culture 1
본 과목은 외국인 대학원생을 위한 학점 과목으로, 한글의 자음과 모음 학습을 시작으로 자기소개, 인사말, 숫자, 시간 표현 등 일상생활에서 활용되는 기초 회화 능력 향상에 중점을 둔다.
수업은 문법, 듣기, 읽기, 말하기 활동을 유기적으로 연계하여 구성되며, 학습자의 부담을 줄이기 위해 쓰기 활동은 간단한 메모 작성 수준으로 제한된다.
말하기와 듣기를 중심으로 한 상호작용 중심의 교수법을 적용하고, 교사의 발음 시범, 반복 연습, 짝 활동 등을 통해 초급 학습자의 적극적인 참여를 유도한다.
또한 매주 수업에는 예절, 음식, 가족 등 한국의 일상 문화를 주제로 한 내용을 포함하여, 언어 학습과 문화 이해가 통합적으로 이루어지도록 구성되어 있다.
본 과목은 이후 심화 과목 수강을 위한 기초 역량을 함양하는 것을 목표로 한다.
This course is a credit-bearing class designed for international graduate students.
It begins with the study of Korean consonants and vowels and focuses on developing basic conversational skills for everyday situations, such as self-introductions, greetings, numbers, and time expressions.
The curriculum is structured to integrate grammar, listening, reading, and speaking in a cohesive manner.
Writing activities are limited to simple memo-style tasks to reduce the learning burden.
An interactive, speaking- and listening-centered teaching approach is employed, encouraging active student participation through instructor modeling, repetitive practice, and pair work.
Each weekly session also incorporates topics related to Korean daily life and culture—such as etiquette, food, and family—providing a comprehensive approach to both language acquisition and cultural understanding.
The course aims to build foundational skills necessary for students to progress to more advanced Korean language courses.

본 과목은 외국인 대학원생을 위한 학점 과목으로, 초급 수준의 한국어 의사소통 능력 향상을 목표로 한다.
‘기초 한국어와 한국 문화 이해 1(FKLC 1)’의 학습 내용을 기반으로 하며, 또는 한국어능력시험(TOPIK) 1급 이상의 수준을 갖춘 학습자를 대상으로 한다.
수업은 대중교통 이용, 음식 주문, 길 찾기, 공공시설 이용 등 일상생활에서 자주 접하는 상황을 중심으로 말하기, 듣기, 읽기 능력을 통합적으로 향상시키는 데 중점을 둔다.
반복적인 말하기 연습과 실제 상황을 반영한 회화 활동을 통해 발화의 유창성과 정확성을 높이며, 관용 표현과 문화적 차이에 대한 이해도 함께 다룬다.
쓰기 활동은 간단한 메모 작성 수준으로 제한하여 학습자의 부담을 줄이고 학습 동기를 높인다.
수업은 문법과 연계된 과제 및 학습자 참여 중심의 활동으로 구성되며, 학기 말에는 개별 발표와 소규모 문화 프로젝트를 통해 학습한 내용을 실제 상황에 자연스럽게 적용할 수 있도록 유도한다.
This course is a credit-bearing class designed for international graduate students, with the goal of enhancing basic Korean communication skills.
It is based on the content covered in Foundations of Korean Language and Culture 1 (FKLC 1) and is intended for learners who have completed that course or possess Korean language proficiency equivalent to TOPIK Level 1 or higher.
The course focuses on integrated development of speaking, listening, and reading skills through practical situations commonly encountered in daily life, such as using public transportation, ordering food, asking for directions, and using public facilities.
Fluency and accuracy are improved through repetitive speaking practice and conversation activities grounded in real-life contexts.
Common idiomatic expressions and cultural differences are also addressed to foster intercultural understanding.
Writing tasks are limited to short memo-style exercises to reduce learners’ cognitive load and enhance motivation.
The course includes grammar-based assignments and student-centered activities. At the end of the semester, students will apply what they have learned through individual presentations and small-scale cultural projects designed to facilitate real-world language use.
