한국에 온 후 제 생활에는 많은 변화가 생겼습니다. 처음에는 연구실과 기숙사에서 대부분의 시간을 보냈기 때문에 한국 사람들과 이야기할 기회가 많지 않았습니다. 하지만 한국어를 배우기 시작하면서 생활이 조금씩 달라졌습니다.
식당에서 직접 주문하거나 학교 직원에게 필요한 것을 물어볼 수 있게 되었고, 한국 친구들과 이야기할 때도 자신감이 생겼습니다. 아직 복잡한 내용을 한국어로 설명하는 것은 어렵지만, 앞으로는 일상생활뿐만 아니라 학교와 연구실에서도 한국어를 더 적극적으로 사용해 보고 싶습니다.
POSTECH Practical Korean Language Program
The POSTECH Practical Korean Language Program is a non-degree, non-credit Korean language program designed for foreign nationals who are legally residing in Korea with a valid visa. The program is open not only to members of the POSTECH community but also to foreign residents who are not enrolled in a POSTECH degree program.
※ Important Notice
This program is NOT eligible for the issuance of a D-4-1 (Korean Language Training) visa. Enrollment in or completion of this program cannot be used as a basis for obtaining a D-4-1 visa or changing your current visa status to D-4-1.
1. Program Schedule (2026)
· Spring Semester: February 23 – June 12, 2026 (16 weeks)
· Summer Semester: June 22 – July 24, 2026 (5 weeks)
· Fall Semester: September 7 – December 25, 2026 (16 weeks)
· Winter Semester: January 4, 2027 – February 5, 2027 (5 weeks)
2. Eligibility
· Foreign nationals holding a valid visa that permits legal residence in the Republic of Korea
· International students, researchers, and members of the POSTECH community
· Foreign nationals who are not enrolled in a POSTECH degree program
· Applicants of all nationalities
· No formal admission process is required; however, a Korean language level assessment may be conducted for appropriate class placement
3. Course Levels
· Korean language classes are offered according to learners’ proficiency levels:
Basic 1 → Beginner 1 → Beginner 1.5 → Beginner 2 → Intermediate 1
· Please complete the Self-Level Check before registration to identify the most suitable class level.
· If you are unsure of your level, you may take an offline placement test and consult with the Korean language instructor for guidance.
4. Registration and Tuition
· Registration must be completed during the designated registration period.
· Tuition fees will be announced separately prior to each registration period.
· Your registration will be confirmed only after full payment of the tuition fee.
· Some classes may be adjusted, combined, or canceled depending on enrollment numbers and level distribution.
· Please register for a class that best matches your Korean proficiency level.
5. Certificate of Completion
A Certificate of Completion issued under the name of the Director of the POSTECH Institute of Culture and Language (PICL) will be awarded to students who meet both of the following requirements:
· At least 80% attendance
· A minimum overall score of 80 points, based on class participation, assignments, examinations, and other course requirements
Students must satisfy both requirements. A certificate will not be issued if either the attendance requirement or the minimum evaluation score is not met.
※ The Certificate of Completion confirms successful completion of a POSTECH non-degree, non-credit Korean language program. It does not confer academic credit or a degree from POSTECH.
6. Refund Policy
· For detailed information regarding tuition refunds and related procedures, please contact the POSTECH Institute of Culture and Language directly.
7. Visa Information
· This is a non-degree, non-credit Korean language program and does not provide D-4-1 (Korean Language Training) visa sponsorship.
· Participation in this program cannot be used to obtain a D-4-1 visa or to change an existing visa status to D-4-1.
· Applicants must already hold a valid visa that permits legal residence in Korea throughout the duration of the program.
- 운영시간: 월~금, 9:00-18:00
- 점심시간: 12:00-13:00(운영하지 않음)
※ 주말 및 공휴일 휴관
- Operating Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Lunch Break: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM (closed during this time)
※ Closed on weekends and public holidays
정규학기는 2세션, 계절학기는 1세션으로 운영되며, 각 세션별로 신청을 받고 있습니다.

During the regular semester, two sessions are offered. For the seasonal semester, one session is available. Applications are accepted for each session accordingly.
